New research shows COVID-19 impacted otherwise healthy Native Americans disproportionately

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New research is showing evidence that COVID-19 hit Native American communities even harder than previously thought. A recently-published study from the University of New Mexico shows, for the first time, there were disproportionately higher numbers of tragic outcomes even among Native Americans who did not have pre-existing conditions – meaning COVID-19 hurt otherwise healthy Native Americans more than it did other races and ethnicities.
