Man Charged with Murder after Wife Dies from Injuries

Deputies from San Juan County Sheriff’s Office responded County Road 5466 in reference to a male you called “911” stating that he cut his wife’s throat and she is breathing a little bit. He told the operator that he was tired of her cheating on him. The “911” operator tried to get him to control the bleeding but he refused.

The security guard confronted 33-year old Carlos Perez, who then got into his personal vehicle, pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the security guard. Perez fled the area traveling south on College Boulevard. Shortly after, he attempted to return to campus.

An Escalade, that had driven into the parking lot during the altercation, left and headed west on 17th Street. The passenger of the Escalade, later identified as 21-year-old Marqus Garcia of Farmington, fired one shot toward the male holding the shotgun with an SKS semi-automatic rifle. The male with the shotgun then fired two shots in the air.
