Bill aims to exempt New Mexico from Biden’s ban on new oil and gas leases

President Biden’s moratorium is raising concerns across the state, where numerous public programs, rely on the oil and gas industry’s success.

U.S. Congresswoman Yvette Herrell introduced legislation that would exempt oil and gas development on federal lands in New Mexico from President Joe Biden’s moratorium.

The bill is called “Protecting New Mexico’s Jobs and Public Education System Act.”
