Victims speak about past horrors of Indian Boarding Schools

Dating back to the 1800s up until the 1970s, these schools had one main goal: force Native American children to forget about their Indigenous roots and break them down in ways unimaginable

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Department of the Interior and its Secretary Deb Haaland have been on a nationwide tour called the Road to Healing. It’s part of an initiative to address the abuse and neglect Native American children went through in Federal Indian Boarding Schools across the country from the 1800s to 1970s.
