New Mexico House Republicans push to limit governor’s emergency powers

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – House Republicans are pushing a bill to curb the governor’s executive authority on declaring an emergency. The legislation would establish constitutional language that ends a state of emergency after 90 days unless lawmakers reconvene and vote to extend it. That would require a three-fifths majority to pass.
