Settlement agreement protects lower river, riparian habitat, and downstream communities

SANTA FE, April 14, 2023 On April 12, WildEarth Guardians and the City of Santa Fe finalized a settlement agreement resolving a water rights protest filed by WildEarth Guardians related to the City’s proposed San Juan-Chama Return Flow Project. The agreement provides significant protections to preserve a flowing Lower Santa Fe River and improve riparian habitat conditions, while allowing the City to continue its efforts to increase the long-term security and climate resilience of its municipal water supply.
