Indian Affairs Announces Distribution Plan for $850 Million Designated for BIE-funded Schools Under the American Rescue Plan Act

Funds will provide COVID-19 relief for education in BIE- and Tribally operated K-12 schools and TCUs

WASHINGTON – Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs Bryan Newland today announced the Bureau of Indian Education’s plan for disbursing $850 million provided by the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act, signed on March 11, 2021, by President Biden. The funds, which BIE began disbursing this week, will be provided to BIE-funded K-12 schools and Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities (TCUs).
